Barnsley Shotokan Karate Club is a member of the KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain), which is the largest single karate organization in the United Kingdom. The KUGB has many clubs in schools colleges and universities throughout the UK. The chairman and senior instructor is Sensei Andy Sherry - Black Belt 9th Dan KUGB who is assisted by a large group of senior international instructors.
Barnsley Shotokan Karate club was first formed in 1975 by the current instructor Mick Padgett, who started training in 1970 and has produced numerous black belts many who are still training today.
